Humba's Inaugural Deep Tech Fellows
Last month, we kicked off Humba Ventures’ first deep tech fellowship. It’s a new program we’re running where operators and researchers in and around the deep tech ecosystem can join us for a month or two to sit in on pitch meetings, connect with founders we’ve invested in, and learn about how a deep tech VC fund operates.
We received hundreds of applications, interviewed several dozen incredible candidates, and selected 9 for our three initial cohorts of three fellows each.
The most common question we received during the interviews was: “What’s in it for Humba?” The answer is simple: one of our KPIs is how much time we spend engaging productively with the broader community and exploring synergies…
Just kidding. We just thought it would be a fun experience for fellows, for founders, and for us.
The truth is that VC investing teams grow very slowly, and most operating knowledge that investors have decays rapidly. A fellowship is a great way to expand our network with smart, technical folks that actually know how to build stuff. Fellows have a fun time meeting with founders and learning about frontier technologies across areas like bio, defense, manufacturing, and energy, and we and the companies we work with get to learn from them. We’ve truly been struck by the depth of their expertise across numerous domains and industries, which has already provided valuable insights, not only for us, but for founders in our portfolio as well!
We just wrapped up our first cohort and both we and the fellows really enjoyed it. We are excited to continue our fellowship program into 2026 and beyond.
Without further ado, here are our first nine Humba deep tech fellows!
